Lori Fitness Journey

What have you accomplished in your life that you're most proud of?

- I opened my first business at 28. A kickboxing gym I ran for 3 years.

If you could take 3 months off and do whatever you wanted, what would that time look like?

- My dog is getting a little older so I would spend that time doing all of his favorite things. Taking him to the beach would be one thing and lots of road trips. Sight seeing across the US.

How did you feel before you found TrAk?

- I moved to Peninsula in November and was on the hunt for a new gym home. I wanted a spot with a good community and great workouts.

How do you feel now?

- I feel great about my decision to join. All of the coaches are very knowledgeable and want you to perform better. I also love the other members. Everyone is so friendly. Especially my bff Mac!

How has TrAk changed your everyday life?

- I was always an avid gym goer but now I have a stronger focus on a more well rounded fitness routine. Also, I stretch more.

If you were in a band what existing band/group do you see yourself  in?

- Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

Best place to travel that you've ever been?

- I took a trip to Costa Rica in my late 20s. It was a life changing trip. While the scenery was beautiful it was really the pace of life there. I started to slow down and appreciate the present. Still holds true today.

What personal failure has helped lead to your ultimate success?

-As mentioned above, I owned a gym for a few years. I ultimately had to close that gym but the lessons I learned from that experience and the friends I made taught me how to be a better person.

What’s the craziest thing you've seen in the gym?

-The gym I went to in Denver had a trainer that was known for her “complex” movements. An example I remember was a loaded barbell and a box. Clean the barbell, jump on the box, press the barbell, step down into a lunge. It was ridiculous.

What three people [living or dead] would you go camping with next weekend?

- Bear Grylls, Gordon Ramsey and Christopher, my partner.

Which sport/activity would you love to do, but are afraid to?

-I rappelled down a 400ft waterfall once. After I did it, I knew I wouldn’t be doing that again!

Funniest things you've seen your partner do?

-There is definitely long list here but I’ll pick the time I told him I knew how to fold a fitted sheet. He was intrigued. He was watching me so intently. I took the corners and put them together then I just started rolling it into a ball as a joke. At first he was so confused then got the joke. Pretty sure he hasn’t trusted me since.

Favorite movie?

-Boondocks Saints

Best piece of advice you've ever received?

-During a training session, I kept getting frustrated by myself. I probably said something about being stupid but my coach said, “would you say that to or about your best friend” I said I course not, he reminded me to not say those things about myself. I try to remember that anytime I’m getting down on myself.

At what age were you in the best shape of your life?

- Now

Words to live by or favorite quote?

- “Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.”

What adventure do you plan to have in the future?

-My partner and I love to ski. Planning to head to Jackson Hole this season. I hear the terrain is tough!

Favorite book and why?

-David and Goliath by Malcom Gladwell. He challenges conventional thinking about power, strength and success. He illustrates how obstacles and disadvantages can inspire creativity, resilience and unexpected victories. I would highly recommend it if you haven’t already read it!

Something interesting we don't know about you?

-I’m an identical twin!

What do you like most about being apart of the TrAk Family?

-The friends I’m making.

Biggest accomplishment at the gym?

-My 245lbs deadlift
