How did you feel before you found TrAk?
I felt tired and down a lot. I didn't prioritize exercise, and it affected my mental health more than I realized.How do you feel now? I feel not only physically stronger and more fit, but my mental health is a lot better.

What have you accomplished in your life that you're most proud of? This is a tough one because I feel like there is still a lot I'd like to do. I think overall, I'm proud to still have strong and caring friendships in my 30's. I put an effort into staying connected with friends, new and old, and having those connections in life makes me a better person.

If you could take 3 months off and do whatever you wanted, what would that time look like? I'd like to travel to places I've never been! It's always been a dream of mine to live in another country for an extended period of time. Learn the language, get to know the people/culture. 


How has TrAk changed your everyday life? Having an exercise routine that is a part of my everyday life is so important to me now, and I can never go back to not exercising. I love not only going to work out, but the community of people at TrAk. Everyone is so supportive, and it's nice being a part of a community.


Goals...personal, professional, family? Go on the show Survivor! Just kidding... sort of. I definitely want to travel more, and I want to volunteer and make a difference with causes I care about. Professionally, I'd like to push myself to learn new things and maybe even make a career change at some point.


If you were in a band what existing band/group do you see yourself in? I'd love to be in an all girls band - The Beaches are a cool Canadian Alternative/Indie band that I'm into lately! 

 

Best place to travel that you've ever been? Probably Ireland. It's so beautiful and the people are nice, plus it has a lot of history. France is a close second!

What personal failure has helped lead to your ultimate success? I failed to get into the graphic design program at Penn State when I was in college, and I think ultimately it led me down a more fulfilling path.


What’s the craziest thing you've seen in the gym? Diana. Lol... seriously she can deadlift like 200 lbs and make it look easy. She motivates me to push past where I think my limits are.


What three people [living or dead] would you go camping with next weekend? My dad, my twin sister and my husband.


Which sport/activity would you love to do, but are afraid to? Snowboarding and/or surfing. I've tried snowboarding a few times, and it's probably the most challenging thing I've ever done.


Funniest things you've seen your husband do? I have a bad memory, but this year we traveled to Europe, and he accidentally said 'Oui' instead of 'Si' in a restaurant in Italy, prompting the chef to come out and start speaking French to us. 


Favorite movie? Tough to choose. Three that I love are Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Ever After, and Clue (1985).


Best piece of advice you've ever received? Don't compare yourself or your life to others. Everyone has their own path.


At what age were you in the best shape of your life? Honestly probably right now! 34. Or when I was on the Track and Field team when I was 15.


Words to live by or favorite quote? "It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then." - Alice in Wonderland


What adventure do you plan to have in the future? Go to Tanzania! I'm helping a friend of my sister's create a website for a safari company she works with there, and we're planning on taking a trip there once the website is done.


Favorite book and why? Probably Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban because nostalgia, and it's a great story. But I just finished the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas, and I loved it. Imperfect characters overcoming impossible obstacles and growing into better people - plus it's fantasy with magic, wyverns, etc. which I love.


Something interesting we don't know about you? I think most people know I have a twin, but I also have two older sisters and two older brothers. If you can't tell, I love Harry Potter. I also love dogs, coffee, and I play Sudoku everyday. 


What do you like most about being a part of the TrAk Family?
Meeting new people and supporting one another in life and our fitness goals.

Honestly just showing up consistently for about 2 years! But, I recently hit a new deadlift pr of 135 lbs, which I'm pretty happy with :)

Sean Doty

Sean-Michael Doty is an Owner of TrAk Athletics an Adult Strength and conditioning Facility in Akron Ohio. Sean has worked in fitness for that last decade plus. He attended Ashland University where he received his Bachelor’s of Science: Exercise Science (Minor in Coaching), and Masters of Education: Sports Science, Applied Exercise Science. While at Ashland University he was a member of the Track and Field Team and from 2011-2015 was a 6x All-Academic- GLIAC team member. He was trained by and worked along side multiple Olympians and World medalist. After college, Sean worked as a personal trainer for golds gym before accepting a position as Assistant Coordinator of the Fitness Education Center at Cuyahoga Community College, where he oversaw the center and the strength and conditioning programs for the athletic teams housed at the western campus. Later, he worked as a Lecturer for Youngstown State University teaching classes on kinesiology, strength and conditioning, wellness coaching, among several others. Before eventual landing a permeant home at TrAk Athletics where he Co- owns and Operates the Facility with Olympian Lauren Regula and her Husband Dave.
