“I started to come to TrAk a few moths after aortic heart valve replacement 3 years ago this month. I had never worked out with any consistency before that. So I felt pretty cruddy. I was still in recovery but moreover lacked a base level of fitness let alone a habit of constantly working out. I viewed going to a gym as drudgery.

Introduction:
What have you accomplished in your life that you're most proud of?
insert cheesy statement about my wife and kids
If you could take 3 months off and do whatever you wanted, what would that time look like?
Well I’m 3 months into a professional sabbatical and so far it’s mostly looked like getting to be present with Melissa and our kids without distraction. As well as doubling down on self care and development habits like coming to TrAK more often. That being said, my fantasy 3 months is a trip around the world (heading west please) with Melissa.
How did you feel before you found TrAk?
I started to come to TrAk a few moths after aortic heart valve replacement 3 years ago this month. I had never worked out with any consistency before that. So I felt pretty cruddy. I was still in recovery but moreover lacked a base level of fitness let alone a habit of constantly working out. I viewed going to a gym as drudgery.
How do you feel now?
I feel great, and my pants even fit a little better! For sure I’m stronger and in better shape. Most important to me though is I have created a habit of working out.
How has TrAk changed your everyday life?
For me TrAK has made starting and maintaining fitness habits and goals approachable. The coaches are encouraging, while challenging you to push yourself. The variation of workouts keeps me engaged while the schedule allows me to make noticeable progress with week after week focus.
TrAK also changed my life by changing my wife’s life. Melissa has been coming to TrAK since the beginning (AOM of????). She has greatly valued the community and what the training has allowed her to achieve physically.
Goals...personal, professional, family?
My goals right now are all about supporting and enabling Melissa and the kids achieve theirs. Updated goals for Adam are “coming soon” just not yet.
If you were in a band what existing band/group do you see yourself in?
This year I have been loving two brothers who have an instrumental band called Herman’s Gutierrez, their music just doesn’t get old for me and I love the vibe.
Best place to travel that you've ever been?
Picking one is hard, I have a lot of favorites. Recently I have been wanting to go back to Sedona.
What’s the craziest thing you've seen in the gym?
Watching a father (Dave Pelland) and two of his kids pushing and encouraging each other in dead lifts and one of the kids get a PR. That was Crazy-Cool to get to see!
What three people [living or dead] would you go camping with next weekend?
So I would put together an eastern Kentucky country music super group of Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, and Chris Stapleton with the hopes of turning the campfire into an amazing private concert.
Which sport/activity would you love to do, but are afraid to?
Scuba diving.
Funniest things you've seen your wife do?
The first rule of fight club is not to talk about fight club
Favorite movie?
The Godfather
Best piece of advice you've ever received?
Success or accomplishment is never on accident, if you want something you need to do the work and give it your focus.
At what age were you in the best shape of your life?
I’m not sure I’m in a better place now then when I was a teen (I mean youth is hard to beat, as my kids remind me about every day) but for sure today I’m in the best shape of my adult life.
Words to live by or favorite quote?
My favorite verse is Romans 15:13
We all need hope, sometime we need a lot.
What adventure do you plan to have in the future?
I’ve been to 43 states. I want to get to all 50.
Favorite book and why?
Something by Steinbeck. Of Mice and Men, Cannery Row or Travels with Charlie. I like his imagery of the early to mid 20th century time periods he wrote about.
Something interesting we don't know about you?
I’ve camped just over 50 nights in the last 2 years with my son John and his scout troop!
What do you like most about being apart of the TrAk Family?
The coaches and the community of support and encouragement they facilitate.
Biggest accomplishment at the gym?
Forming a habit that I even enjoy, when 3 years ago I didn’t think that was possible.
