How did you feel before you found TrAk?

I wasn't seeing results before TrAk. I tried a lot.... barre, yoga, kickboxing, spin. Some of it was fun, but I wasn't getting a lot out of it. Then I had a membership at Planet Fitness for a couple years and went often, but again it was just like checking a box to say I worked out but didn't get any gains really.

I started at TrAk on a Monday (leg day... bad idea haha) and couldn't walk for a few days. That's when I realized I wasn't as strong as I thought I was and this might be the way to get me where I want to be. Two years later, I am stronger than ever.

How do you feel now?

I have muscles y'all!! Its kinda cool :)

Goals...personal, professional, family?

I have never done an unassisted pull up... but I have a goal to do one by my 40th birthday next year.

Best place to travel that you've ever been?

I am a fan of a good beach... and the Waldorf Astoria resort in PR was beautiful. Its on the eastern coast of the island and had a private island a ferry ride away that had gorgeous reefs for snorkeling. I spent an entire day swimming around the reefs.

I'm eyeing the Maldives for my 40th next year!

What’s the craziest thing you've seen in the gym?

Wouldn't call it crazy but some impressive/inspiring things... Jacy/Justin/Tommy with HEAVY weights, Sean's high jumps, Okie or Hicksy on the ski-erg

Which sport/activity would you love to do, but are afraid to?

Actually when I walked into TrAk that first day 2 years ago, I was terrified. James was coaching that evening and he saw the look of fear in my eyes and he said, "Don't worry, you got this. It will be OK, I promise". I was looking at what everyone in the session before me was doing, and didn't think I could do any of it. Like I said earlier, I couldn't walk for a few days and didn't come back till Thursday... which surprise... was leg day again haha, but thats when my progress started. So I feel for the new members when they come in because I remember that first day jitters all too well!

Favorite movie?

I don't have a favorite movie, but I have a favorite genre... I love scary/horror/thriller movies! They make me nervous and I usually can't sleep after, but that's all part of the rush, right? haha

At what age were you in the best shape of your life?

Though I was thinner in my 20s, I am definitely WAY stronger now and have better endurance. Still working towards my goals, but starting to surprise myself with what I can do now that I couldn't even a year ago.

Words to live by or favorite quote?

"Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end" - lyrics from Semisonic 'Closing Time'

Not really a fan of the song, but these lyrics are powerful.

What adventure do you plan to have in the future?

So I am obsessed with sharks and want to cage dive with the Great Whites at the Farallon Islands off the coast of San Francisco.

What do you like most about being apart of the TrAk Family?

TrAk is an awesome community of people who push each other to be their best.

Biggest accomplishment at the gym?

Squaring out my back squat and deadlift (205# PR for both) this year was a cool milestone.

Also, the Murph! I went into it only planning to do a half-Murph (splitting with Jen), but we looked at each other half way though the push-ups/ring rows/squats and said "we can do the full"... and we did! Looking forward to knocking some time off of it next year.
