November AOM – Shade McMillen
It’s written everywhere you look at TrAk.
It’s the concept of using your health and fitness to pursue the things that are important to you and grow as a person.
Our November Athlete of the Month personifies Living BIG, whether it’s with his fitness, his family, or his business.
He comes four days a week at 6 am and brings it. All effort, all the time. It’s been a true pleasure to watch him not only get stronger, leaner, and faster over the past year, but also get out of his comfort zone with our rafting trip.
He really needs no intro but here he is, our November 2016 TrAk Athlete of the Month, Shade McMillen.
What have you accomplished in your life that you are most proud of?
Family. My wife and kids. I am blessed.
If you could take 3 months off and do whatever you wanted, what would that time look like?
Watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee and a fishing pole in my hand. The beach and a boat. Simple.
If you were in a band, what existing band/group do you see yourself in?
This is tough because I like all kinds of music, but if it was a group probably Journey … maybe OutKast. Weird?

Rome or Florence, Italy
What do your kids remind you that it’s OK to do?
Run, laugh and don’t worry about the little things.
What personal failure has helped lead to your ultimate success?
Growing up and working in a family business since I was 13, I have made almost every mistake possible. This has made owning and running a business much easier. It lets me see mistakes before they happen and put steps in place to prevent them. Having the respect of your employees is a huge asset when running a business. Working hard, making mistakes and learning from them is the only way to gain that respect.
